Human Rights & Religion

Human Rights & Religion

Of late the issues of religion seem to be taking centre stage – protests over placement of crosses, building and demolishment of places of worship, the religious edicts (fatwas over what is haram and what is halal) and the attempt by a state government to introduce the Hudud.

HAKAM and University of Malaya Law Faculty Human Rights Research Group are hosting a FORUM on 23 May 2015 to discuss these issues, the extent of freedom of religion, freedom of expression and other human rights in the context of a multi-religious Malaysia and whether such rights are compatible with religions practised in Malaysia?
