HAKAM seeking candidates for its National Response to Natural Disasters (NR2D) Project


HAKAM – the National Human Rights Society is seeking suitable candidates for a role in program development / management for HAKAM’s National Response to Natural Disasters (NR2D) Project. Candidates should preferably have a background in some aspect of relief work, working knowledge of Malaysian environmental issues, with concrete experience in/adding value to program development, in particular writing grant funding proposals. Familiarity with UNDP (or other similar bodies) funding mechanism would be advantageous.

As the initial priority lies with program development, the successful candidate is expected to build on HAKAM’s Action Plan paper for NR2D by structuring a full program (including research/fact finding and budgeting) and presenting the same for submission for grant funding. In the event the grant application is successful, the role is likely to be extended to program management – stakeholder relationship building and management, ensuring the project runs smoothly, seeing to reporting requirements etc.

Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, write well in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, and be a team player who can also work independently.

The successful candidate is likely to be called upon to work with or guide volunteers for the project.

Availability to start in December 2015 will be advantageous.
