Justice Datuk Mohd Sofian Abd Razak imposed the punishment on P. Krishnan Murthy and S. Gayathri, both aged 31, after finding that the defence had failed to cast any reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case.
The judge said the defence failed to prove that the drugs belonged to an individual named Gunalan, purportedly a friend of Krishnan Murthy’s brother, and failed to prove that Gunalan had access to their house.
The duo were found guilty of trafficking in a lethal combination of heroin and monoacethylmorphines weighing 272.14gm at 19-08, Blok C, Apartment Sri Impian, Larkin Perdana on May 25, 2014 around 9.15pm.
They were also found guilty of trafficking in 112.96gm of methamphetamine on the same day, place and time.
The prosecution was represented by deputy public prosecutor Norafiah Saini, while Krishan Murthy and Gayathri, by counsel Mohd Fazaly Ali Mohd Ghazaly and Arif Aizuddin Masrom. ― Bernama
