JOHOR BARU, April 12 ― A woman was detained last night after uploading an offensive statement against the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and the Johor royal institution via the Facebook application.

Johor Police Chief, Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said Johor police had received a report on the incident at about 12.30 pm on April 9.

“Acting on the report, an investigation paper was opened to carry out further investigation and trace the individual believed to have uploaded the offensive statement.

“As a result, at 11.30pm last night, police detained a 48-year-old woman in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur who is believed to be the individual responsible for uploading the offensive statement,” he said in a statement, here today.

He said the businesswoman was now being remanded until April 14 to assist investigation under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Read more

JOHOR BAHRU: Seorang lelaki berusia 57 tahun ditahan polis semalam selepas dipercayai mengeluarkan kenyataan jelik dan menghasut terhadap Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar di sini.

Ketua Polis Johor Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd berkata lelaki itu ditahan susulan laporan penyalahgunaan laman media sosial mengandungi kenyataan jelik dan menghasut yang disifatkan boleh menggugat keharmonian serta kesejahteraan negara.

Beliau berkata lelaki itu ditahan dengan kerjasama Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah (JSJ) Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Klang Selatan pada 10.45 malam setelah dipercayai bertanggungjawab membuat kenyataan jelik terhadap Sultan Johor.

“Suspek dipercayai membuat kenyataan itu melalui laman sosial Facebook…polis turut merampas sekeping kad sim dan sebuah telefon bimbit yang dipercayai digunakan oleh suspek,” katanya dalam kenyataan di sini, hari ini. Read more

PETALING JAYA: Two pro-environment activists have been arrested by Johor police, believed to be over a Facebook posting highlighting environmental issues in the state.

According to Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd, Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam Malaysia (Peka) president Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil, and the organisation’s administrator Norhayati Shahrom had allegedly insulted Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar through the said post.

He did not name the duo, but their identities were revealed in a statement by Peka Selangor exco member Karin Lee last night. Read more
