KUALA LUMPUR: Some 60 people gathered at Dataran Merdeka tonight in solidarity with the families of missing activists Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat.

Susanna Liew and Norhayati Ariffin, the wives of Koh and Amri, stood hand in hand consoling each other, as they pleaded for their husbands’ return.

“Return our husbands to us!” they cried out, standing in one corner of the iconic square. “Give our children their fathers back!” said Norhayati.

Liew thanked those who came, and repeated her plea for information on her husband’s mysterious abduction in broad daylight early last year. Read more

Abducted pastor’s family were not cooperative in probe, inquiry told

THE family members of Pastor Raymond Koh did not cooperate in the police probe into his disappearance, a public inquiry was told today.

Investigating officer Assistant Superintendent Supari Mohammad said during initial investigations, Koh’s family members were unhelpful.

“The family did not want to cooperate with us. They didn’t want to answer questions on proselytising, what activities Koh was doing, and other issues.

“For example, when he went missing for four days – and I have evidence –when I asked the family (about it), they said they don’t know. They are all staying under one roof. How is it that they don’t know?” he told the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) public inquiry. Read more

POLICE could have acted quicker in investigating the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh, the public inquiry heard today.

Former inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar, the fifth witness who was called to testify in the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) inquiry, was asked if the police took long to respond to the abduction.

Lawyers representing Koh’s family had asked Khalid if there was a delay in taking the statement of the first witness Roeshan Gomez.

“Gomez was the witness who saw the abduction made a report on the first day at 11.30am. He was then told at 12.30pm that the investigating officer was not in and was asked to come back at 1.30pm. Read more
